We've used our natural dye expertise to collaborate with Quality Mask Supply. Together we have produced a limited number of traditionally dyed organic indigo masks. Each mask is one of a kind and made using strict Global Organic Textile Standards.
Organic indigo is a powder from the leaves of the indigo plant called Indigofera tinctoria, and it is one of the oldest dyes known to humankind. The earliest evidence of indigo powder comes from Peru in 2000 BC. It's the only natural blue on earth and has been used for centuries to naturally dye fabric and create a deep blue, unlike anything modern dyes can create. Neighborhood Fiber Co uses hand-worked traditional techniques and a slow process to dye each batch.
Quality Mask Supply organizes a network of 40 home sewers, who they pay to sew their organic, chemical-free masks. By supporting QMS you are helping support small business, home sewers, and Baltimore itself. All our masks are picked up, cleaned and shipped out daily. With your help QMS is trying to supply high quality cotton masks to everyone who needs them in this crisis.
