Maryland Sheep & Wool!
Our biggest show of the year is just around the corner! We will be in our usual location (Outside East Vendors: E7) and the tent will be PACKED with yarn, as will our 15 ft back stock truck. All the yarn!
Studio Store Sale & Custom Dyeing
Since we can't bring everything to Maryland Sheep and Wool, we are keeping the studio store open all weekend! Our shop is an easy drive from the Howard County Fairgrounds and we decided to run a sale for those willing to make the trip! 25% off Rustic DK, Subte Worsted, and Beltway Bulky and a whopping 50% off everything in the sale bin!
As an added bonus, we are going to do custom dyeing again on Sunday, May 8th! Bring your color inspiration and let us make your very own custom color. Even better, if you stop by our booth at Maryland Sheep and Wool, you will get a coupon for an additional 10% off at our shop good through May 15th.
Tea Time in the Studio & Summer Hours
Tea time starts this weekend! At 1 pm every Sunday afternoon, we'll have a fresh pot of tea and sweet treats to share. Stop by the studio, grab a cup, and a comfy chair! We will occasionally host a pop-up shop, food truck, free workshops, and special guests. And we have our very own Engine No. 7 custom tea blend, because why not? See you Sunday!
In addition to a slight change in our hours (we're now open 10am-6pm on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays), we will be closed from May 25th until May 31th because Karida's getting married in the studio! We will have the store set back up in time to open on June 1st.
Change is in the air
Now that you're all excited about the sale, tea time, and Karida's wedding, here's the bad news. We have to raise some of our prices. Studio Worsted, our workhorse sweater yarn has been the same price for more than 5 years. Last year we began having problems keeping it in stock so we made the decision to change our supplier. We feel it is important to get as much of our yarn as possible from North America, so our choices were limited (14 of our 17 bases are milled in North America). We found an amazing new mill in Canada that was willing to make the yarn to our specifications (we're picky) and can keep up with our demand. Even better, they have access to a higher quality merino wool! The improved quality and supply makes the yarn a bit more expensive, but we think it's worth it and hope you will agree. Studio Worsted will go up to $44 on May 1st.
We also have to raise the prices on Loft and Chromium. We import both from Japan (along with Penthouse Silk Fingering) and the cost of materials and duty taxes have risen steadily over the years. We are keeping the price of Penthouse Silk Fingering the same, but will raise Loft and Chromium to $22 (also on May 1st). Again, this was a very difficult decision, but we have absorbed the price increases for years and just can't do it anymore.
