When I found out that Michelle Obama had been knitting through the quarantine, I literally jumped up and down for joy. In honor of this amazing occurrence, I'm bringing back the colorway 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. As many of you know, I designed this colorway in 2008, hopeful that an Obama/Biden administration would bring a change that I could believe in. I also envisioned Michelle Obama wearing a shawl that I would knit for her in my yarn. This colorway was always for her. So, until November 4, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave: Michelle Obama Limited Edition will be available in all of our bases. I encourage you to use it to knit or crochet an Empower scarf (link to website), or knit a shawl for your favorite First Lady. Most importantly, get out there and VOTE.
Your yarn will be dyed to order. Please allow up to 2 weeks for fulfillment.
Welcome our newest yarn base: a sumptuous blend of baby Suri alpaca, Merino wool, and silk. Suri Loft is an opulent yarn that's stunningly soft on the skin, and gives our vibrant roster of colors a saturated, watercolor appearance. With a delicate core surrounded by clouds of Peruvian alpaca fiber, Suri Loft can be treated as a fingering weight, or knit or crocheted up on larger needle and hook sizes for quick projects--especially if held double with another of your favorite Neighborhood Fiber Co. bases.
Subtle color variations are achieved through kettle dyeing.
65% Suri alpaca, 20% Merino wool, 15% silk
4-5 sts/inch US 5-6
We recommend hand washing with Eucalan in cool water, as other brands of wool wash have had adverse effects on our yarn. Lay flat to dry.
