Winter Suns, which Olga Buraya-Kefelian originally designed for Laine Magazine Issue 9, cleverly combines Plied North Ave and Neighborhood Fiber Co. Organic Studio DK to create a large, lightweight shawl with pops of color.
Much of the shawl is relaxing Stockinette stitch, and the colorwork portion uses a mosaic (slipped-stitch) technique that only employs one color per row. The pattern includes detailed instructions for how to catch the floats in the mosaic portion to keep the reverse side of the shawl neat.
The Winter Suns pattern has instructions for two sizes. The smaller size uses five skeins of North Ave and one skein of Organic Studio DK, and the larger size uses six skeins of North Ave and three skeins of Organic Studio DK.
