They keep up to date with popular patterns, are familiar with common pattern sales platforms like Ravelry or Etsy, and understand crochet and knitting terminology to effectively communicate on the sales floor. They are welcoming to all customers of every experience level, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and income level, and can work with customers with disabilities to accommodate accessibility. They are friendly, confident, and can easily engage with shoppers. They are a savvy social media user who can help expand our digital presence.

Description:The Retail Sales Manager is a role dedicated to managing the in-studio yarn shop at Neighborhood Fiber Co. They will greet and engage customers, and assist them with questions about yarns, fibers, and products. They will be the main cashier at the point of sale, and will be present for in-store events and gatherings. They will help plan and prepare the store for these events and make the space welcoming to visitors.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise retail customers with questions about our products;
  • Organize and merchandize studio store to optimal shopping experience;
  • Maintain accurate store inventory;
  • Communicate with Inventory and Customer Service Manager when products are low in stock;
  • Use sales platforms - Shopify and Square - to sell products;
  • Use sales platforms - Shopify and Square - to track product inventory;
  • Perform quality assurance on products before sale;
  • Assist with posting to social media, especially Instagram;
  • Travel to industry events to assist with sales and set up booths.

Required for Position

  • Must be available to work Fridays, Saturdays, and one additional day.
  • Proof of COVID vaccination 
  • Masking while at work as a general COVID prevention method;
  • At least two years experience in customer service;
  • Knowledge of yarn, crafting, and knitwear design industries;
  • Experience with yarn crafts, especially knitting and crochet;
  • Familiarity with Facebook and Instagram.

Preferred for Position

  • A working knowledge of color theory
  • Familiarity with craft-related social platforms like Ravelry
  • Familiarity with sales platforms Shopify and Square
