Description

In learning to knit there are four basic skills to learn:

  • CASTING ON: getting the stitches on the needles;
  • THE KNIT STITCH: the seminal stitch upon which all knitting techniques are based;
  • THE PURL STITCH: the opposite of the knit stitch, allowing for the repeat of the same stitch on the wrong side of the fabric as is on the right;
  • BINDING OFF: locking the stitches to close off and complete the newly made fabric.

In order to allow our students time to process and learn all of these elements with enough confidence to read, understand and knit a simple 2x2 Rib Scarf, Neighborhood Fiber Co. is offering a 2-part Learn to Knit workshop in two 2-hour classes.

Upon completion of the Learn to Knit Workshop, students will have the skills needed to begin their knitting journey, beginning with the 2x2 Rib Scarf.

Materials Required: 1 skein of Studio Worsted or 400 yds of any worsted weight yarn, and 1 pair of US 9 knitting needles

This is a two part class offered on Saturday Sept. 7th and Saturday Sept. 21st from 10:30am-12:30pm.
