Y'all, we need some help moving into this new building.
In 2021, we purchased the property at 2116 Aisquith Street hoping to move Neighborhood Fiber Co. into a new, larger, more suitable space. At first, we thought we'd be able to renovate and relocate within a few months. But things got complicated. And the price of construction got higher. We kept having to move push our move date, and the more we waited, the more expensive this project became.
Why do we need to move? As much as we love the 150-year-old former firehouse where we currently work, we have outgrown the square footage. Plus, our status as renters limits how we can customize the space, and our shop on the second floor is not ADA-accessible. The building at 2116 Aisquith has much more square footage and is all on one level, meaning that customers who can't climb stairs will have equal access to our store and class space.
We have grants from Baltimore Central Partnership and Baltimore Base Network, and the majority of the construction is funded by a loan from Baltimore Community Lending. We just need need to stretch a little farther to bridge the gap between the aid we've already received and the current construction estimate. What better way to do that than with yarn?
2116 Aisquith Street (the color), is a vivid, speckle-y blend of kelly green, turquoise, and hot violet. All sales from purchases of this color, dyed on all our currently available yarn and fiber bases, will go straight to funding the renovation of our new location and our move. It's time to get this project done!
